The concept for this piece was inspired by a drawing by Heinrich Kley. The figure of the fairy was first used as part of tableau for a "Call for Entries" poster for Spectrum Nine. As with several of the pieces offered here, I found a set of castings, the molds long since deteriorated and discarded, and wanted to try something with figure suspension I'd been thinking about for awhile. I sculpted a new base and reengineered the figure to get her to look as if she's hovering in mid-sip.

About the Edition:
I'm offering two of an edition of four. Each one is painted, one at a time, each one with its own color scheme. Each figure comes with two different colored sets of wings. These statues are, for all intents and purposes, one-of-kind. Each one is signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. I'm holding the third and fourth out because I haven't yet settled on a color scheme for the final two statues. When I complete the remaining two, I'll offer them for sale and the edition will be complete. No additional Afternoon Delight statues will be available.
